About the Workshop:
Most of the time, we are brimming with ideas and thoughts but are unable to mould them into a story. This workshop focuses on helping you put words to your expressions. If you are looking to find a home for your words, your thoughts, and your ideas, then this workshop is perfect for you. 
The theme for this month’s workshop is ‘Stories in the Time of Covid.While we agree that there is no dearth of Covid stories these days, each story we hear or read is unique. Each experience is unique. To add yours to the list, you just need to learn how to put your pen to paper and we will help you with the first push. 

What will you learn in the workshop? 

• Understanding the general format of a short story
• Diving deeper into story elements like character, dialogue, setting, etc.
• Comparing snippets of writing from great writers across time and places
• Drafting a skeleton (rough outline) of your first story 

Flow of the session

• An introductory assignment to break the bottle and get the ink flowing
• Introducing plot structure and story elements. Each of these concepts will be followed by an assignment to put the learning into practice
• Sharing a list of contemporary good reads for further reading and reference
• Writing the draft of the first story

Whiteboard, pens, and sheets of paper

About the Host:
Asha Francis is a British Council certified creative writing facilitator who has been conducting writing workshops at Dialogues for the past three years. She is the co-author of ‘Literally Yours’, an experimental writing venture on the themes of love and writing. Her short stories have appeared in various anthologies like Ripples, The Other,etc.

• There is a possibility that the time and date of the event may be rescheduled due to internet connectivity issues. In this case, the artist will share the revised date and/or time at the earliest.
• One ticket grants access to the live stream for only one screen at a time
• The ticket is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged, cancelled or returned once bought. No refunds on purchased ticket are possible even in case of any rescheduling
• Recording or uploading of this stream is strictly prohibited
• Dialogues cannot be held accountable If your network connection is not optimal. However, if the problem is faced by a majority of the participants, the event may be rescheduled
