Teaching and Learning are such integral parts of life that we are doing either of the two at any given point in our lives. They are acts which bring out our vulnerabilities. Yet, conventional teacher training focus a lot on technique, ignoring the human aspects of the whole process. This Heart of Teaching workshop will present the concept of teaching with empathy. What does it truly mean to be aware of ourselves in the classroom?

The workshop will touch upon certain key terms, like Affective and Cognitive Empathy and the need to take your most authentic self into the classroom. We will also look into practical examples of how reaching out for a person rather than a student changes your entire perspective. Empathy is not about never raising your voice, its in the awareness of why you do so and how it changes you, not your student.
