Writing a story or a novel can be a daunting task for a first-time writer. In the course of the last five years while we facilitated many fiction writing workshops, we had the chance to listen to and work with many first-time writers. What we learnt in these interactions is that breaking down basic elements of writing into smaller parts and trying to understand the parts through short assignments takes out the fear from writing. When fear is out of the way, ideas and words float in and stories are born. This workshop looks at getting you comfortable with idea of writing fiction through assignments.Â
The workshop is for two hours. The time is equally divided between expert pointers to the basic elements of writing fiction and exercises to try out the newly acquired knowledge. Peer feedback backed by insights and recommendations from the facilitator is the added bonus.Â
