The new poetry gang, Pajama Poets is back. And this time we are celebrating Valentine's Day. What is love, if not uncomfortable and vulnerable? We are ready to wear our comfy pajamas and talk about things that are uncomfortable. So wear your cozy PJs and show up at Dialogues Cafe on 14th February, 6:30PM. Where our three featured performers are celebrating all kinds of love. Whether it be the love which made narcissus drown, the love which society tells you is a sickness and the love we ought to have for our country in these times. Amandeep Singh As a child, Amandeep Singh started his writing journey by changing the lyrics to Bollywood songs. Thanks to his tuition teacher who used to write poems in Hindi, he developed a passion for writing, himself. His first major sense of success came in 2016, when he won the Hindi poetry competition of Anugoonj, the annual cultural festival of Indraprastha University, New Delhi. Amandeep then went on to win many other slams and events. His major achievements last year were winning the APM slam at the Wryte Lit Fest, Pune; winning the first Kommune Story Slam, held in Bengaluru and successfully doing a 1-hour show in Bengaluru and Delhi. He has also performed in the Language Festival 2018, the first ever multi-lingual fest of India, curated by YourQuote, held in Bengaluru on the 9th and 10th of June. His major achievements this year are judging the Bengaluru regionals of the poetry competition organised by BITS Hyderabad, doing a fully sold out show at Alliance Française de Bangalore under the Last Page Collective and winning 2 Kommune Story Slams held in Bangalore. Presently based in Bengaluru, Amandeep has been featured at events by Talk Happy Therapy, YourQuote, Poetry Social Bengaluru & Mouth Of Word to name a few, and has performed at NIFT Bengaluru, Anjuman, Poetry In The Park, Indian Institute of Science, Open Sky Slam and Mount Carmel College, among others. When you meet him, don't forget to ask him one question: "Amandeep, tum bade kyon nahi hote?" Mariyam Saigal Mariyam Saigal works as a Content Writer for YourQuote. She was a performer at TEDx. Published in the first print anthology of The Bombay Review (literary magazine) at the age 17. Was a slambassador of Airplane Poetry Movement in her college. Featured by Spoken Fest organized by Kommune in 2017 and 2019, Inverse, The Habitat in Mumbai, APM, YQ, LF 18, WeTheWomen (Barkha Dutt's Fest), BITS Pilaani, NIT Rourkela, SoFar Sounds, RV College of Engineering, Mount Carmel, Christ University, Jain College, Socials, 100 thousand poets for a change, Poetry Tea Festival, Greenpeace, etc, the list goes on. She has won and judged several poetry slam competitions. She's the only female poet who has went on a solo tour to Maharashtra's tier 2 and tier 3 cities to spread the culture of Spoken Word Poetry in 2017 by conducting workshops. Swetlana Saraswat Swethlana, a freelance writer and poet, shows up in random open mics to perform her writing. She once managed to bag a collab piece with Mariyam Saigal. She has previously performed at SheTalks and in her college's departmental fest, CommE Live. She has also stood third position twice in Airplane Poetry Movement Poetry Slam - Bangalore Edition. In her free time, she likes to tune off from the world and daydream. Andra Ardra is a dilettante. They believe life is too short to do just one (or five) things. They dabble in art, photography, spoken word, theatre and much more. They identify as genderfluid and this queer identity informs much if their work. Their activism led them to art and continues to play a huge role in why they create. They believe all art has the power to hurt, to heal and to change the world.
